Members are invited to attend the Annual Conference of the Association of University Radiation Protection Officers. As usual, the event will include the Annual General Meeting, the Annual Dinner and an Exhibition, which will give you the opportunity to meet and talk to providers of many of the services and products that are essential to our work.

This year the AURPO Annual Conference will be held at the University of Leicester. The organisation team consists of members of the AURPO Executive assisted by the East Midlands AURPO Regional Group.

Bowder Court

Accommodation is in high quality en-suite single rooms. Please note there is no double accommodation in Bowder Court but details of alternative double accommodation is shown below.

For delegates arriving on Tuesday, keys may be collected from the conference reception and from 14.00hrs on the day of arrival from the John Foster Hall reception for delegates arriving on Monday. Keys must be returned to the John Foster Hall reception on the day of departure by 09.30hrs.

Alternative Accommodation

Double accommodation is available at the College Court Hotel and delegates requiring this type of accommodation are asked to make their own arrangements by contacting College Court direct.

Conference Programme

The conference starts on Tuesday 4th September with a focus on non-ionising radiation protection. Wednesday the 5th September will follow with a full day focusing on ionising radiation protection. Registration for Delegates will be from 11:00am on the Tuesday.

Networking Evening

The Networking Evening on Tuesday will be held in the John Foster Hall and will have an Indian theme. With an array of Indian food and ‘Bollywood’ style entertainment…..there is talk of a hot curry challenge for those brave enough to take part! If Indian food isn’t really to your taste, don’t worry as there will be traditional English fayre on offer as well. Just let us know your preference on the registration form.

 

Conference Dinner

 

Our formal Conference Dinner will be held in the City Rooms, Leicester on the Wednesday evening following closure of the conference.

 

 

 

 

Dress code is strictly formal and Lounge Suit / Cocktail dresses are essential.

 

 

 

Getting There

The University of Leicester is fully committed to its environmental policy. With this in mind we would encourage you to use public transport in the first instance. Should this not be possible complimentary car parking is available wherever possible on site (areas marked ‘P’) on the map and in the event that you do travel by car we would ask that you car share wherever possible.

By Car

On arrival please proceed to the one of the car parks nearest to the Stamford Court Conference Office marked P on the map. All parking is free but please use any of the available car parks and refrain from parking on public roads. For those using SatNav, the postcode for the Conference Centre is LE2 2LH.

By Bus

Route 31/A (year round) from City Centre via Leicester Train Station to Leicester Road (A6) followed by a 5-10 minute walk to the Oadby Conference Centres.

By Train

Leicester has a main line connection to London, the north and the Midlands via East Midlands Trains with regular connections to London St Pancras, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham and Lincoln.

By Taxi

The Oadby Conference Centres are approximately three miles from the train station. Ask to be taken to Bowder Court and NOT the University of Leicester.
